Hey You!  Yes you!                You are worth it!

“For me this journey began many years ago. As a child I was bullied left and right for who I was, my interests, what I wore, and especially my physical appearance. For years that effected every aspect of life. It effected the way I thought of myself, and future relationships with others. But the moment that Sarah’s Safe Haven was brought to my attention was through a terrible experience in Kenosha, WI. I was attending a bible college at the time and was asked to lead 4th grade girls. There was this one girl in particular about 10 years old who had beautiful eyes and golden skin. She was shy and incredibly lovable. She opened up to me that other girls consistently pick on her. As most people I was like “wow children can be so mean to each other and how could anyone pick on this adorable little girl.” However, I brushed it off. Later on that semester I witnessed these same girls she had mentioned bullying her right in front of me. My heart was so broken from this experience. It then dawned on me, schools have plenty of anti-bullying programs. People are consistently told bullying is wrong. However, they never teach girls how to cope with it once they have experienced being bullied. Where do you find yourself worth after all has been said and done to rip you apart? I don’t think most girls are able to see their worth through God’s eyes and that is what I am striving to do through Sarah’s Safe Haven.”
